Marc-André Hamelin talks about Sergei Rachmaninoff
He is a master of the piano and acclaimed around the world on account of his outstanding technique: the pianist Marc-André Hamelin. He has provided the fingerings for our new Urtext editions of Rachmaninoff.
In this video interview with the Henle editor Dominik Rahmer, Hamelin plays passages that are of particular interest as regards the fingerings and he also talks about his relationship to Rachmaninoff’s works and to Russian music in general. In addition, he answers the question as to whether one should provide fingerings for large or small hands.
