G. Henle Publishers generously support the Barenboim-Said Akademie, Berlin, by donating their entire Urtext sheet music catalogue. The Barenboim-Said Akademie recognizes this partnership as a most valuable academic and pedagogic initiative for their students.
The donation is comprised of 1250 music books by 55 composers and represents the entire Henle Urtext catalogue.

In memory of Paul Badura-Skoda (1927 – 2019)
Paul Badura-Skoda (1927 – 2019) passed away at the advanced age of 91 – a superb musician and outstanding pianist, thoroughly Viennese, a passionate expert in original manuscripts and Urtext editions, as well as a connoisseur and collector of historic keyboard instruments.

26 September 2015 was the 70th anniversary of Béla Bartók’s death. At the same time it was an important day for Bartók research. In Budapest the Complete Critical Edition of Béla Bartók’s works was announced. The editorial responsibility lies with the Bartók Archives in Budapest.

In June 1847 Robert Schumann sketched his Piano Trio op. 43 with a great deal of enthusiasm and love; three months later he presented it to his wife Clara for her birthday. The Saxon State and University Library Dresden has been able to acquire this sketch for the trio.

166 young pianists between the ages of 6 and 11 took part in our piano competition on YouTube – their enthusiasm is plain for all to see and hear. Each one of them played a piece from Robert Schumann’s “Album für die Jugend” (Album for the Young). We would like to thank all of them for their enthusiastic participation – we were really delighted to see this.

Happy 110th birthday Mr. Theopold (1904–2000)
We recently commemorated his milestone birthday: The pianist and piano teacher Hans-Martin Theopold, who died in 2000, would have celebrated his 110th birthday this April. His fingerings enrich over 200 of our Urtext editions.

Last December our online survey about the publishing house and its tasks was completed. It lasted over two years. One of the first things we saw: An overwhelming number of people took part. This great response could be seen across all of the five languages in which the study was conducted.

Soo-Jung Ann wins first prize in the Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn 2013
The winners of this year’s International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn have been chosen. In the grand final of the competition, before an enthusiastic audience, the jury in the Beethovenhalle awarded first prize to Soo-Jung Ann from South Korea. Stefan Cassomenos from Aurstralia and Shinnosuke Inugai from Japan were awarded the second and third prizes.

In what is probably the world’s largest music store – the Yamaha Ginza Shop in Tokyo the CEO of Henle Publishers, Dr. Wolf-Dieter Seiffert, gave a talk to a large number of guests on 17 October 2013.

The Music Fair in Frankfurt is the largest international trade fair for sheet music, musical instruments, music software and accessories. This year it will be held from 10 to 13 April. During the four days of the fair, all of the leading manufacturers and publishers get together and present new products and trends.
Violin video: Ingolf Turban on Paganini’s Capricci op. 1
In 2013 we will be placing a special emphasis on the violin and works for the violin. This includes video interviews with violin experts and performers. Ingolf Turban, the first guest on the red sofa at our publishing house, will be sharing important tips, tricks and ideas on how best to learn Nicolò Paganini’s 24 Capricci op. 1.

Rhapsody in School
For years we’ve been supporting a music project that has what it takes: “Rhapsody in School”, set up by the pianist Lars Vogt. Instead of moaning about a supposed lack of interest amongst children and young people in “classical” music or trying to get every child to play an instrument, successful musicians visit schools and, thanks to their own enthusiasm and ability, awaken interest in music making amongst children.
