Kissin and friends for Ukraine: Günter Henle Foundation initiates benefit concert at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf

2. April 2022. Benefit concert for the Ukraine in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf

World-famous stars of classical music performed in the sold-out Tonhalle Düsseldorf for a good cause. Pianist Evgeny Kissin and violinist Gidon Kremer together with the cellists David Geringas and Giedre Dirvanauskaite played works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Valentin Silvestrov, Igor Loboda, Frédéric Chopin and Kissin himself.

The concert was initiated by the Günter Henle Foundation and G. Henle Publishers. In cooperation with the Peter Klöckner Foundation they bore all of the costs incurred. The Tonhalle Düsseldorf provided the venue free of charge.

Ticket sales and additional donations – made in advance, during the concert and afterwards – raised the impressive sum of €250,000. All of the money was donated to the Ukraine emergency fund set up by the medical aid organisation action medeor e.V.
