Prof. Christine Schornsheim is a specialist in early music and is a soloist on the harpsichord and the fortepiano, as well as being the musical partner of Andreas Staier, Hille Perl, Kristin von der Goltz, and playing in the ensemble Zefiro as well as the Einstein Trio. She has been on concert tours in many different European countries, as well as in Israel and the USA; she also regularly makes guest appearances in Japan. Many of her radio and CD recordings have been awarded prizes: She has been awarded the ECHO Klassik music award, the Annual Diapason d'Or Award, as well as the German Record Critics’ Award (“Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik”) for her recording of all of Joseph Haydn’s Piano Sonatas on different keyboard instruments, a co-production of Capriccio and the WDR. Together with Andreas Staier she was also awarded the Annual Diapason d’Or Award in 2007 for the CD “Mozart am Stein Vis-à-vis” (harmonia mundi france). Schornsheim’s recording of Bach’s Well-Tempered Piano recently appeared, a co-production of Capriccio and the SWR.
Since the winter semester 2002/2003 she has held a professorship for harpsichord at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. In addition, she also took on the harpsichord class at the Royal Conservatory in Copenhagen for a year, and was awarded a three-month visiting professorship at Geidai University in Tokyo. Her teaching activities also include master-classes both at home and abroad.
