Following the sold-out benefit concert on 2 April in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Günter Henle Foundation has received additional donations to the tune of €106,000. This makes a total of €250,000 for the medical aid organisation action medeor e.V.

Felix Henle, chair of the Günter Henle Foundation and the Peter Klöckner Foundation, who initiated the concert, said: “Touched by this moving concert and the incomprehensible news from the Ukraine, several people have made further sizeable donations. I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all donors, the artists, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and supporters. My special thanks go to Evgeny Kissin. Without him a concert of this sort would not have been able to take place.”

Sid Peruvemba, spokesperson for the medical aid organisation action medeor, is impressed: “All those involved have contributed wholeheartedly to this incredible sum. Thanks to this, action medeor will be able to provide concrete healthcare support to those in the Ukraine and alleviate suffering.” Since the war broke out, the medical aid organisation has sent two consignments to the Ukraine per week. Each one comprises around 30 pallets of medicines, bandages, infusion solutions, medical equipment and other materials. The benefit concert has now made further consignments possible.

The world-famous stars, pianist Evgeny Kissin, violinist Gidon Kremer and cellists David Geringas and Giedre Dirvanauskaite performed a concert on 2 April 2022 in the Tonhalle Düsseldorf with works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Valentin Silvestrov, Igor Loboda, Frédéric Chopin and Kissin himself.
